Hello all,

Its being a while since my last contribution to the project, today I merged corrado72′s commits (https://github.com/corrado72/openkinect) to the unstable branch of imekinox/openkinect.

Also I updated the whole thing to the latest OpenKinect/libfreenect unstable so the repo is up to date. The merge of the tree repos (openkinect, imekinox and corrado72) has been requested for pull into the official unstable repository. As soon as qdot gives its approval all changes should be in the official github too.

Here is the link to my unstable branch in github:

https://github.com/imekinox/openkinect/tree/unstable

I tested it against my latest binary demo (http://as3kinect.org/distribution/win/freenect_demo_pkg_0.9c.zip).

Also I noticed the issues tab is not that useful and its full of spam so I just deleted It.

I know there is a list of issues, I’ll research for a good ticketing system for wordpress as github seems to lack of one. After I find a useful one I’ll try to filter the forum posts looking for bugs.

I’ll try my best to give me some time to work on this project.

Greetings,
JC

After making OpenNI wrapper a little more useful and functional I’ll switch back again to OpenKinect’s as Im planing to use openCV for the next releases.

Hello, I’ve made an update to OpenNI Wrapper (I have been busy lately but finally a little progress here)

This uses the unstable binaries from OpenNI / NITE.

You may need to update dirvers and OpenNI / NITE (probably not).

This update fixes the need to reopen the server when the client is closed. And has multi skeleton functionality (needs debugging, as I’m the only awake while developing this)

NOTE: Right now multi skeleton fires the got skeleton event once per skeleton, needs to be fixed.

Hello,

I’ve released OpenKinect as3server version 0.9c.

Whats new:

Video Compression!

New interface for the demo (as3kinectUI class)

Enable disable streams from menu.

Notes:

Compression makes the app in OSX to flow at nice FPS.

If you want blob detection you need to turn off depth compression (set quality to 0)

as3kinectUI uses minimalcomps and helps you start your projects faster Example:
showDepthPanel(where:DisplayObjectContainer, _x:int, _y:int, _closed:Bool, _draggable:Bool, _color:int)

This will give you a UI object which controls depth range, mirroring, quality, etc…

Guides where updated.

Binaries updated.

Source is in unstable branch of my repo.

Cheers,

Hello,

I’ve updated OpenKinect wrapper source and binaries. Current version is 0.9b.

I’ve added v0.9b downloadable files in the downloads section for OSX and Win.

Also the v0.9b version of freenect_demo_pkg has the virtual piano demo from the video I posted a few days ago.

Documentation of the as3 client is up for this version too, take a look into it and if you see something weird please let me know. (Its in the API Documentation menu)

There are still a lot of things to do, specially to the OpenNI wrapper that are on my todo-list. Please if you can help in any way I’ll appreciate as it has been a really hard but pleasant work to keep this up.

Enache was making a nice logo for the site, but we are all busy this time of the year retaking projects and things.

Also I’ve put a Donate option if you have some extra money you’ll like to donate. That would be really helpful :D

Cheers,
